Ms Diana Tan Ching Jean graduated from Multimedia University, with an honours degree in 2008. She completed her pupillage under the tutelage of Ms. Ng Su Hing in Messrs Shahrizat Rashid & Lee and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2010. She was retained in Messrs Shahrizat Rashid & Lee as an associate. She handles General Conveyancing works which inclusive of drafting, vetting, preparing and perusing sale and purchase agreements for sub-sale transactions as well as project works including various legal documentation for corporate, conventional and Islamic banking for individual, SMEs and corporates. The financial institutions served are Maybank, CIMB, Public Bank, UOB Bank, Hong Leong Bank, RHB Bank, Alliance Bank, OCBC Bank, Ambank and has assisted partners of the firm in bridging and syndicated loans for Ambank & Alliance Bank including advisory works to developer on their legal position and documentation prior to their project launching. Updates the developer from time to time on latest development in the law relating to project development, housing development, government policy. The Developers includes Mahsing Group, Glomac Berhad, I&P Group, Malton Berhad and many more.
Thereafter, she has joined Messrs Amir Faezal Norzela & Chong in 2012 as a legal assistant to various consumer banking and financing’s work where she meet-up regularly with branch managers of the Banks to exchange updates of current banking practice and the latest law relating to banking matters and updating Bankers of their file’s status and also to organize weekly meeting with staffs to ensure efficiency of work are met & to reduce mistake in daily work.
She further joined Messrs Tee Bee Kim & Partners in 2014 until 2017 as a legal assistant to handle the firm’s general conveyancing works for sub-sale and project transactions including advisory on retail and commercial banking. She lead a team to manage Sale and Purchase Agreement for under construction housing projects including monitoring project dateline and status report. Generally, has weekly or bi-monthly status report meeting with developer clients to exchange updates, advises developer on their legal position and documentation prior to their project launching. Engages a systematic methodology in the management of numerous project concurrently. Conducts daily briefing with her team to monitor project dateline and status report. Frequently deals with various government departments and bodies, including but not limited to Land Registry Department, Inland Revenue Board and Stamp Office in resolving various issues for and on behalf of clients. In 2018 she has joined Messrs SP Hew & Co as Senior Associate. Advised on land law and drafting and reviewing tenancies, leases, sale and purchase agreements for residential, commercial and industrial properties and other related documents including ‘buy back’ agreements in a shopping mall to revamp the livelihood of the mall. Advised purchasers on the procedures and requirements for purchasing properties under a wound-up Developer, including those with restriction in interest, state consent, low-cost Property and charged to the Bank or purchase by foreigners.
In 2020, she has joined as a partner in Messrs Phak & Associates where she heads the conveyancing department which includes probate, property, banking and finance matters.
She was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Federal Court , YAA Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat as a Commissioner For Oaths which came into effect on 01st August 2024 and ensures that the services of the Commissioner For Oaths be carried out with full integrity supporting the judicial system in this country.
